COMMISSION FOR LITURGICAL PASTORAL

To strengthen, within the diocesan community and following the example of the first Christian communities, our love for Christ in the saving mystery of the Eucharist, for in the Eucharist the work of our Redemption is accomplished. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our life of faith, through listening to and living out the Word of God and putting charity into practice within our communities. At all times, we seek pastoral conversion, becoming a living, synodal, and participatory community.

DIMENSION FOR THE PASTORAL MINISTRY OF LITURGICAL CELEBRATION

Diocesan Coordinator: Fr. Genaro Mayorga Reyes, TOR

Mission: To ensure that every member who participates in a parish liturgical ministry within the Diocese receives specific formation in the Church’s documents concerning the Sacred Liturgy, through the Diocesan Commission for the Pastoral Ministry of Liturgical Celebration, responding to the primary needs identified by the First Diocesan Synod.

Vision: Once each liturgical minister has gained a deep understanding of what the Church proposes, they will be able to prepare for and celebrate the Saving Mysteries of God, while also living out the fruits of these Mysteries with missionary charity and in a synodal spirit.

Objective: To provide priests, consecrated religious, and lay faithful throughout the Diocese with formation in the Second Vatican Council’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Sacrosanctum Concilium, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM), and the Ceremonial of Bishops, so that they may understand what the Church asks of them and thus prepare for and celebrate the Sacred Mysteries of Our Lord Jesus Christ with greater dignity.

DIMENSION FOR THE PASTORAL MINISTRY OF SHRINES AND POPULAR PIETY

Diocesan Coordinator: Fr. Luis Pablo Garza Aguilar, LC

Mission: To enrich and strengthen the devotional practices of our community at our various shrines by offering catechesis that leads to an encounter with Christ, while strengthening the different expressions of faith.

Vision: For each shrine to become a center of spiritual, catechetical, and charitable life, where every faithful person can freely express their faith and, through the promotion of these particular expressions of devotion, truly encounter the saving mystery of God.

Objective: To ensure that pastoral ministers receive formation in the Directory on Popular Piety and the Liturgy, gaining a thorough understanding of what the Church proposes, so that they can provide the faith community with the means to strengthen the experience of pilgrimage and devotional practices as expressions of faith, in harmony with the Sacred Liturgy.

DIMENSION FOR THE PASTORAL MINISTRY OF SACRED ART AND ECCLESIASTICAL PROPERTY

Diocesan Coordinator: Arch. Edgar Herrera Herrera

Mission: To provide clear and specialized formation on sacred art and the proper care of ecclesiastical property, facilitating the approval of church construction projects and contributing to the celebration of the liturgy as the “source and summit of Christian life” (SC 10).

Vision: Once those responsible for this dimension have received the necessary formation, they will be able to strengthen the care and proper dignity of our churches, so that their works reflect a deeper spirituality and a richer artistic message, inspiring the faith of the people and preserving the Church’s cultural heritage.

Objective: To preserve the movable and immovable property of our Diocese and, with the assistance of experts, review church construction projects to ensure that they comply with the guidelines of the Second Vatican Council in response to the demographic growth of our Diocese. To provide priests, religious, seminarians, and lay faithful with formation in Sacred Art, creating a team of experts in this field who can assist the Diocesan Bishop in approving new construction projects and renovations of churches.

DIMENSION FOR THE PASTORAL MINISTRY OF LITURGICAL MUSIC

Diocesan Coordinator: DP Enrique Trujillo del Río

Mission: To ensure that music ministries recognize the true value of sacred music—not merely as an aesthetic element, but as an integral part of the liturgy—thereby enabling the lay faithful to participate with greater fervor and reverence in the mystery being celebrated.

Vision: Once music ministries diligently prepare the appropriate music for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the faith community will recognize music as one of the Church’s great treasures and as an expression of synodal participation in the Eucharistic Mystery.

Objective: To provide priests, consecrated religious, music ministers, and the faithful with formation in and knowledge of the richness of liturgical music, which the Second Vatican Council has placed at the service of and in support of the Sacred Mysteries of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

DIMENSION FOR THE PASTORAL MINISTRY OF EUCHARISTIC AND MARIAN CONGRESSES

Diocesan Coordinator: Fr. James Wallace Hogan, LC

Mission: To strengthen throughout our Diocese what has already been cultivated among the faithful: devotion to and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. This includes providing appropriate catechesis that helps the faithful preserve and deepen their love for Eucharistic adoration, while participating in and promoting Eucharistic gatherings at the parish, deanery, and diocesan levels.

Vision: Through proper formation and a deeper understanding of what the Church offers us regarding adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, every faithful person will put this formation into practice through acts of charity toward brothers and sisters in need, thereby becoming a Church that goes forth, a missionary and Samaritan Church.

Objective: To promote initiatives of Eucharistic adoration that, in accordance with the current norms of the Church, deepen understanding of and participation in the Eucharistic Mystery in all its dimensions—from the celebration of the Eucharist and worship outside of Mass to its expression in the personal, social, and charitable lives of the faithful (C.P.C.E.I.). To promote the establishment of a perpetual adoration chapel in every parish.
